Why 'NOT - With Us':

The answer for this question is both simple but also devastating. Some time ago a fellow friend told this answer.

"Someone may not and or is not willing to admit his mistakes."

It is not the intention of this site to fall back to subjective spin. Only selective, up-to-point and objective arguments are presented here.

Over 100 Thousand people live in the Schoenefeld urban area. Over 100 Thousand people should have the right to the free development of his personality and the right to life and to inviolability of their person. (Article 2 of the German Constitution "Grundgestz").

-

Schoenefeld Airport is supposed to be located outside of the city. This is one of the main pro-argument for an airport in Schoenefeld. However, is it fair to say, that an outside airport is an outside airport, because it is located just a few metres outside the city.

-

Nowhere in the world an aiport of this dimension was ever planned or even biult within such a densely populated urban area.

-

Prior to selection of the location an offical 25 Million Euro comparative proceeding was conducted. As a result of the proceeding, Schoenefeld was assessed to be not suitable for an aiport development. Schoenefeld ist not even suitable under conditions.

-

The privatizsation contracts assumed a yearly profit margin of 15 per cent for the airport operator. Moreover, those profits were guaranteed to the operator.

-

Statistically over 95% of all aircraft crashes do happen right after take-off or before landing.

-

An aiport of the proposed size can only be operated with profits by granting unrestricted overnight starting and landing rights.

-

The main approach path is located just above the area of the Mueggelsee lake and its inflowing rivers. This area is one the main sweet water reservoirs of Berlin.

-

Besides of the precious sweet water two main gas pipelines lead just through the landing approach area.

-

Thousand of private property owners in this area are subject to a slow but steady depreciation of their property value. The promised rise of property value is more than questionable, because the affected areas are not industrial but residential places.

-

The possibilities to expand the infrastructure are more than insufficient. There is just example to tell. The linkage of the airport to the main rail network increase the frequency of trains between Schoeneweide and Koenigs Wusterhausen. However, this track can only be traversed by simple crossings. As a result the connection between the eastern and western parts of the towns Eichwalde, Zeuthen and Wildau are partially cut off by incread rail traffic.

-

Moreover, because of the reduced opening interval of the crossing barrier, a sufficient emergency response service cannot be guaranteed. This is due to the fact that a new European Union directive forbids partial crossing barriers.
